Vessel Noise Monitoring & URN Measurements
Understand and reduce vessel noise emissions
Quiet-Oceans provides Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) measurement services to quantify vessel noise emissions and support environmental monitoring, certification, and regulatory compliance. Measurements are conducted using calibrated equipment and established protocols aligned with internationally recognised methodologies.
Quiet-Oceans is authorised to deliver URN measurement results compliant with the requirements of Bureau Veritas under the NR614 rule, enabling shipowners and operators to obtain certification-ready data for regulatory reporting and voluntary environmental labelling schemes.
URN assessments can be carried out through dedicated measurement campaigns conducted under defined protocols, such as the Bureau Veritas NR614 rule, or through in-situ monitoring solutions deployed in real operational environments, including opportunistic measurements using our in-house SmartURN buoy.
By providing reliable and objective data on vessel noise emissions, Quiet-Oceans supports shipowners, ports, and maritime authorities in better understanding underwater noise from shipping and contributing to international efforts led by the International Maritime Organization to reduce its impact on marine ecosystems.
